What is eDPI?
eDPI, or effective DPI, is mouse DPI × in-game sensitivity. DPI says how many counts the mouse sends per inch you move it; the sensitivity says how far the game turns for each count. Two players can use very different settings and still aim at exactly the same speed: 400 DPI at 0.8 and 800 DPI at 0.4 are both 320 eDPI in Valorant. That's why pro settings lists sort players by eDPI rather than by DPI or sensitivity alone.
The catch: eDPI only compares players within the same game. Every game turns a different number of degrees per unit of sensitivity, so 320 eDPI in Valorant is a very different speed from 320 eDPI in CS2. To compare across games, use cm/360.
Valorant eDPI calculator
Valorant turns 0.07° per count at sensitivity 1. The typical setting of 800 DPI × 0.4 gives 320 eDPI and about 40.8 cm of mouse movement for a full turn. Most players use roughly 200–400 eDPI; values above 500 make small flicks hard to control on a standard mouse pad.
CS2 eDPI calculator
CS2 uses the classic Source value of 0.022° per count, so its sensitivity numbers are about 3.18 times higher than Valorant's for the same feel. 400 DPI at 2.0 is 800 eDPI and about 52 cm per 360°. Most players sit around 600–1200 eDPI. To copy your Valorant aim into CS2, multiply the Valorant sensitivity by 3.18 at the same DPI; the table above does it for you.
Fortnite eDPI calculator
Fortnite shows sensitivity as a percentage, so the formula divides by 100: 800 DPI at 6.4% is 51.2 eDPI. Because Fortnite's scale is different, this page doesn't convert Fortnite sensitivity to other games.
Overwatch 2 and Apex Legends
Overwatch 2 turns only 0.0066° per count, so its numbers look large: 800 DPI at 5 is 4000 eDPI and about 34.6 cm per 360°. Apex Legends uses the same 0.022 scale as CS2, so a CS2 sensitivity carries over one to one at the same DPI.
Which eDPI should you use?
There's no correct number. Lower eDPI means bigger arm movements and steadier small corrections; higher eDPI means faster turns with less precision. A practical test: you should be able to turn 180° in one comfortable swipe without lifting the mouse, yet still move the crosshair a few pixels for a precise shot. If you change DPI, keep your eDPI the same with section 2 so your muscle memory stays intact. Also turn off Windows pointer acceleration so the same swipe always gives the same turn; our mouse acceleration test checks it.
How we tested this tool
We checked the results against hand calculations: 800 DPI × 0.4 in Valorant = 320 eDPI and 40.8 cm/360; 400 × 2.0 in CS2 = 800 eDPI and 52 cm/360; 800 × 6.4% in Fortnite = 51.2 eDPI; 800 × 5 in Overwatch 2 = 4000 eDPI and 34.6 cm/360. We checked that converting Valorant 0.4 gives 1.273 in CS2 and Apex and 4.242 in Overwatch 2, all with the same cm/360; that changing 400 DPI at 0.8 to 1600 DPI gives 0.2; and that empty or zero values show no result. The yaw values are the published engine values each game uses; the usual ranges are rough figures from public pro and player settings lists, not rules. Tested on desktop and at a 375 px phone width.
Frequently asked questions
What is eDPI?
eDPI (effective DPI) is your mouse DPI multiplied by your in-game sensitivity. It lets you compare how fast two players aim in the same game even if they use different DPI: 800 DPI at 0.4 and 400 DPI at 0.8 are both 320 eDPI in Valorant.
What is a good eDPI for Valorant?
Most Valorant players, including many professionals, use roughly 200 to 400 eDPI, for example 800 DPI with a sensitivity of 0.25 to 0.5. There is no best value; pick one that lets you turn comfortably and still hit small, precise shots.
Can I compare eDPI between games?
No. Each game turns a different amount per unit of sensitivity, so 320 eDPI in Valorant feels like about 1018 eDPI in CS2. Compare cm/360 instead, or use the same-feel table on this page.
How do I calculate Fortnite eDPI?
Fortnite shows sensitivity as a percentage, so eDPI is DPI × sensitivity ÷ 100. At 800 DPI and 6.4% the eDPI is 51.2.
What is cm/360?
cm/360 is how far you move the mouse on the desk to turn a full circle in the game. It describes sensitivity in a way that works across games and DPI settings: 800 DPI at 0.4 in Valorant is about 40.8 cm per 360°.
I changed my mouse DPI. What sensitivity keeps the same feel?
Keep the eDPI the same: new sensitivity = old sensitivity × old DPI ÷ new DPI. Going from 400 DPI at 0.8 to 1600 DPI means a sensitivity of 0.2.
